Tibet-Taiwan-film-festivalTaipei: - International Tibetan Buddhism Institute's first micro film festival- Hot Focus, concluded in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, with the awarding ceremony on September 1 after a series of seminars.

The institute swaps the sentence order in a quotation from Diamond Sutra into"Like dew or a flash of lightning; like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow" and makes it the slogan of the competition.

The institute has invited several specialists in film advertising to be decided by the judges. The institute also invited some distinguished guests, including the director of Seediq Bale, Wei De Sheng; the director of Hand in Hand, Zhuang Yi Zeng; and the director of The Cup, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, Khyentse Norbu to join the seminar and share with audience some joyful moments.

During the ceremony, Khenpo Tsering Tashi said that "the purpose of Buddhism isn't becoming Buddha, but benefiting all sentient beings; becoming Buddha comes after the benefit of the all sentient beings, which is also the purpose of having this event. To put it more concretely, we are approaching all sentient beings through this merit, trespassing the border of religion..."

There were two are monks among ten award winners. One of them, Tenzin Wangyal, a Buddhist director, was inspired by the white lotus, a film which was in dedication to his mother.

The other monk who is from Tibet won honorable mention with his film No Tears Sutra. Manjushri Bodhisattva: means "the sound of softness" in Tibetan, was mentioned in the film; yet, what kind of softness can be of "wisdom"?

The filmmaker recorded how a 66-year-old Tibetan doctor in Dege Country, eastern Tibet cure his naughty crying grandson with zany and mild power of spells. This film represents the audience their original true feelings for religion.

The 1st prize winner, Cai Pei Jun, is a young Taiwanese girl, whose work Days talks of the everyday emotions that live with us, from the melancholic, the joyful, the furious...etc. Expectation of the fact that everything will be better, the only thing that makes us to keep on going.
