Joomla content management system workshop in Dharamshala, India on 7 May 2009. Photo: TPIDharamshala-Mr. Martin Rasser, an Austrian web developer, offering a free workshop on 7 May on Joomla content management system. Joomla is a free system that can be used to manage websites easily; it also helps in designing and maintaining websites and makes the task much easier as compared to some of the complicated software that is used. Some of the NGOs including Tibetan media in Dharamshala are already using Joomla because of its easy-to-use and user friendly nature.

Mr. Martin hopes that the modern internet technology and its developements up to the Tibetans, and to reach the right place, he said "It's wonderful too see so many Tibetans beeing eager to learn web publishing these days. Since the established media doesn't report much on the Tibetan cause, it's up the Tibetans to make themselves heard."

The workshop discussed basic joomla and educated the Tibetan participants about Web Content Management system and its advantages as a beginner, the participants were taught how to install and use the program, the various templates available in Joomla and most importantly, how to design multiple language websites in Joomla.

The feedback of participants will be discussed at the end of the workshop on 12 May this month. This is the second time which on advanced Joomla content management system including its extensions, modules, and components for a week provided by Lha Social Works, a Tibetan NGO based in Dharamshala in 2008. Mr. Mateus, A talented Brazilian became a good friend of Tibetans in Dharamshala, and contributed and worked tirelessly for the community.
