2 august 2012 001Dharamshala: -- On the 20th September of this year, 2012, His Eminence the 12th Goshri Gyaltsab Rinpoche will grant a complete transmission of empowerment-Kagyu Ngagzod Chenmo kawang-at Palchen Chosling Monastery, Ralang, South Sikkim, India.

The Kawang (Buddhist initiation) will begin on the 20th of September and continue until the 14th of October and will last for 25 days in total. The Kagyu mantras in Tibetan are known as The Kagyu Ngagzod Chenmo kawang.

The practices are regarded as the most important in the Kagyu tradition. The Kagyu lineage is one of many lineages in Tibetan Buddhism and is historically and spiritually derived from ancient Indian teachings gathered many centuries ago. One of these teachings for example, the Anutara Yoga teachings, comes from the ultimate realization of Buddha Vajradhara.

The teachings were then transmitted to the Buddhist disciples of Tibet; in return the Marpa Kagyu was spread over Tibet and eventually became a comprehensive collection called the Kagyu Ngagzo Chenmo which has survived right down to the 21st century in India.
