Flame of Truth Torch Relay Concludes In Hunsur, South India

sunsur-tibet-indiaHunsur, Mysore, August 03, 2102: On 31st July, Flame of Truth relay began its journey from Rabgyaling Tibetan settlement to nearby HD Kote town and Naganahalli village. The relay was led Mrs. Tsering Youdon, Member of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile and local leaders of Tibetan NGOs. Mrs. Tsering Youdon gave speech on the Flame of Truth relay in local language.

Leaflets in Kanada and English were widely distributed to the public. Due to local fair at H D Kote town, many local people took part in the signature campaign and the settlement co-ordination committee was able to collect 3000 signatures in a day.

On 1st of August, the Flame of Truth relay begun with a program at Rabgyaling Community Hall participated by whole settlement people and the chief guest of the programme was Mr. William D'Souza, Executive Director of MYKATS. Mr. William was involved in Resettlement project of the Rabgyaling Settlement and served Tibetan Co-operative society at the inception of the settlement. He honoured the torch by handing over to the Chief Councillor.

Ms. Yeshi Choedon, settlement officer gave an introduction on the program and introduced chief guest to the gathering. Mrs. Tsering Youdon, Member of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile also gave brief talk on Flame of truth campaign and few words of inspiration. The Chairman of local assembly Mr. Dorjee gave vote of thanks note.

The Flame of Truth relay then proceeded from one camp to another by touring the whole 14 camps of the settlement. Every camp had welcomed the torch with respect. After the settlement camps, the flame of truth then proceeded further to Old People's Home, Phende Hospital, Mentse khang, monastery, where monks performed a special prayer and blessed the torch. Later the flame of truth made its further journey to Tibetan School, Nursery and finally reached settlement office.

On 2nd August, the journey of Flame of Truth started from Gurupura at 8.30 a.m. and reached Hunsur Town Hall. Mr. S.M. Loknath (KAS), Teshildar of Hunsur Taluk participated as chief guest and spoke in support of the programme and inaugurated the Flame of truth relay at Hunsur. He also promised to put forward Tibetan memorandum to Human Rights Commission, New Delhi. Similarly Mrs. Tsering Youdon, Member of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile read Press release in Kannada language and gave brief introduction in local language.

Mr. Santosh, President of Indo Tibetan Friendship Society also was participated in the programme and gave inspirational speech. After the function was over, Peaceful Procession was held in Hunsur town. Signatures on the petition were also collected from local people. A good number of local media were present and was widely covered in local media.

Afternoon, Flame of Truth begun its further journey to nearby K. R. Nagar Taluk and reached there at 2.00 p.m. Similar progamme was held there. The Teshildar of K. R. Nagar Mr. B. Natesh participated in the programme and gave strong and supportive speech. The local co-ordination committee also collected signatures on the petition to be submitted to UN and returned back to Rabgayling Tibetan settlement at 6.00p.m.

Flame of Truth relay in Hunsur and nearby towns, villages and settlement was jointly organised by the settlement office, local Tibetan Assembly, Tibetan Freedom Movement, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress and Regional Tibetan Women's association under the leadership of Mrs. Tsering Youdon and Ms. Yeshi Choedon.

On Friday, the Flame of Truth torch for Tibet was handed over to Kollegal Tibetan settlement, Mysore, Karnataka State, South India.
