Bylakuppe, Karnataka — Expressing his New Year greetings to the audience, His Holiness the Dalai Lama announced that the 34th Kalachakra initiation will be held at Bodh Gaya, the Indian State of Bihar, in January 2017.
His comment came at the second day of the Sixteen Drops of Kadam Empowerment at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe, South India, where over thirty-thousand devotees attended His Holiness' two-week teachigns and Public talks.
"Those of you who've come from abroad, tomorrow's the start of 2016 – a Happy New Year to you all," His Holiness wished them.
"Now you'll go home, but those of us who are still here will meet again when we hold the Kalachakra Empowerment in Bodhgaya in January 2017," His Holiness said.
"We were supposed to conduct the 34th Kalachakra initiation in January 2016. However, due to medical reasons and treatment, I had to postpone it," he told the crowd.
"Anyway, what I postponed last year, I will do next year in the 11th month of the traditional Tibetan calendar which falls in January 2017," His Holiness said.
"In the meantime, the way to ensure a good rebirth is make your life meaningful now. Be happy and Tashi Delek," His Holiness added.
After the successful conclusion of a month-long teaching at Tibetan Settlements of Hunsur and Bylakuppe in Karnataka, South India, His Holiness the Dalai Lama returned to his official residence in Dharamshala, on January 5, 2016.
The Tibetan spiritual leader conducted a series of teachings and public talks from 9 December 2015 – 2 January 2016 including Mind and Life Conference in Sera Monastery.
In New Delhi he was felicitated by close friends and admirers to celebrate the milestone of His Holiness’ 80th birthday.
His Holiness’ upcoming schedule includes a two and a half day Mind & Life Dialogue in Brussels, Belgium from September 9 -11 organised by Mind & Life Europe.
