Madison, Wisconsin: - Describing 'education, sacrifice and responsibility as keys to moving forward and strengthening' their 'movement,' Mr Tenzing Jigme, President of Tibetan Youth Congress said "It is time to develop new ideas and strategies."
According to the group, the 14th Annual Working Committee meeting of North America Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (NARTYC) started on June 28 through June 29, 2014 in Madison, Wisconsin. Representatives from seven regions – San Francisco, Seattle, Minnesota, Toronto, Capital Area, Wisconsin and New York/New Jersey attended this two-day meeting joined by local area Tibetan community members.
Tibetan MP Mr Karma Yeshi, former TYC centrex executive member and current member of the 15th House of Tibetan Parliament in Exile was the honored guest of the opening ceremony. Mr Karma Yeshi la shared his experience of the many years of his work with TYC. He said, "every individual has responsibility and we should keep the spirit of the Tibetan people in Tibet, in our hearts and continue our efforts until our struggle is resolved ".
Tenzing Jigme, President of TYC, moderated the 2-day meeting. In his inaugural speech, he stressed on how TYC has been and continues to be a great platform for youth leadership. Jigme stated that – education, sacrifice and responsibility are keys to moving forward and strengthening our movement. "It is time to develop new ideas and strategies", he added and encouraged participants of the meeting to bring forth tactics and proposals that will help our organization and struggle move forward as well as resolve our issue soon.
TYC said the meeting continued with a review of the previous year's resolutions, with each region stating their efforts in active implementation of each of the eight resolutions. In junction, annual reports from each regional chapter were distributed to Centrex President and all the regions for review. A wide range of topics being covered at this meeting are – working on campaigns to increase support and highlighting the self-immolations in Tibet, as well as campaigns to amplify the plight of various political prisoners in Tibet, actions to contain Dhogyal propitiator's false allegations towards His Holiness the Dalai Lama and promoting & preserving Tibetan culture & religion in exile.
This 14th North America Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Working Committee Meeting was convened by Regional Tibetan Youth Congress chapter of Wisconsin and concluded on June 29. The 15th North America meeting will take place in New York in 2015.
