The event was attended by over 10 members of European Parliament (MEPs), 15 representatives and assistants of MEPs, embassy officials, Tibet supporters and Tibetan community representatives – a total of 60 guests graced the event with their presence.
A representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tashi Phuntsok gave the introduction speech where he spoke about the three commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, his strong support for the EU vision, and he called for the potential of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to contribute to universal peace and harmony. International political uncertainty and shifting alliances around the world are major of causes of concern for an unsettled world.
The Representative's speech “was the best that I have heard in so many years I have been present,” said Mr Carlo Luyckx, a long-time and trusted friend of the Office of Tibet.
Several MEPs present also addressed the reception with great support for Tibet's freedom.
