07may20103Dharamshala: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is set to tour the US between 12 and 23 May. According to the private office of His Holiness, the Tibetan leader will give teachings and public talks at various places and is also scheduled to attend social functions.

His Holiness will begin his tour with a two-day teaching on The Heart Sutra (Sherab Nyingpo) in Bloomington, IN, USA on 12-13 May, in an event organized by The Tibetan & Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center.

His Holiness will give a public talk, organized by The Tibetan & Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center, Interfaith Hunger Initiative and Indiana Buddhist Center, titled Facing Challenges with Compassion & Wisdom in Indianapolis, IN, USA on 14 May.

His Holiness will then have a dialogue in Madison, WI, USA on 16 May with neuroscientist Prof. Richard Davidson of the University of Wisconsin. The talk is called Madison on Investigating Healthy Minds, and will be moderated by Daniel Goleman.

His Holiness will give another public talk on The Power of Education in Cedar Falls, IA, USA on 18 May organized by University of Northern Iowa.

Tibetan Nobel Laureate will give three-day teachings on Shantideva's A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life (Chodjug)  and Kamalashila's The Middling States of Meditation (Gomrim Barpa) in New York, NY, USA from 20-22 May organized by Healing the Divide & The Tibet Center at Radio City Music Hall.

On 23 May, His Holiness will give a public talk titled Awakening the Heart of Selflessness organized by Healing the Divide & The Tibet Center in New York, NY, USA.

His Holiness on May 23 May will participate in an interfaith dialogue at the Church of St. John the Divine in New York, NY.

However, US officials have not given any confirmation on President Barack Obama or other top officials meeting with His Holiness during his time in the US.

President Barack Obama personally met with and hosted the Tibetan leader at the White House in February, drawing an angry reaction from China. In a statement from the White House, President Obama "commended the Tibetan leader's ... commitment to nonviolence and his pursuit of dialogue with the Chinese government."

Obama also encouraged China and His Holiness the Dalai Lama's envoys to keep up efforts to resolve differences through negotiations, despite recent talks yielding little progress.
