Dharamshala — A-Nya Sengdra was released on February 4, 2026, after serving seven years and five months in the Chinese prison. He has returned home and been reunited with his family. Details regarding his health and the conditions of his freedom remain unknown.

Dharamshala — The Chinese government forbids Tibetan children from entering monasteries, and prevents young Tibetan children from becoming monks, forces young monks to leave monastic schools for children and forcibly places them in Chinese colonial-style boarding schools. Such practices not only violate the fundamental rights of Tibetans but also constitute acts of genocide aimed at eliminating an entire ethnic group, language, and religion.

Dharamshala — Chinese authorities dismissed a Tibetan lama from his position at the end of 2024 and arrested him shortly afterwards. He has been disappeared since then. Although the Chinese authorities have not specified the reasons for his arrest, some sources claim that it may be linked to his assistance to a Tibetan monk returned from exile and sending of money to Tibetans in exile, charges frequently made against Tibetans accused of maintaining relations with family members in exile.

Dharamshala — Chinese authorities in Lhasa summoned Tibetan monks in Lhasa to a meeting on the "Sinicisation of Tibetan Buddhism". This meeting compelled Tibetan monks to work towards the “sinicisation of Tibetan Buddhism”, and strive diligently to make Tibetan Buddhism compatible with socialism. They also ordered the monks to follow the “orders of the Party”, “be grateful for the CCP,” and “follow the Party.”

Dharamshala — Chinese government (CCP) continued and intensified its restrictions and oppressive policies on Tibetans, it's religion, culture, language, education and environment in 2025. CCP deployed armed forces to prevent Tibetans from celebrating the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and arrested over 80 Tibetans for protest illegal mining. They demolished over 300 Buddhist stupas and arrested the Director of the Dorje Ten Ethnic Vocational School and closed the institution. China has also destroyed Tibet's fragile environment by constructing railways, dams, conducting illegal mining activities.

Dharamshala — Chinese authorities have arrested approximately 80 Tibetans for protesting against illegal gold mining activities carried out by a Chinese company in Kashi, Sershuk County, Zachukha, in eastern Tibet. The Tibetans were beaten, some had broken ribs, and were treated inhumanely while in detention in the county. According to reliable sources, many of them have still not been released and seven people are missing. The villages are surrounded by Chinese armed forces, who are closely monitoring the Tibetans' every move.

Dharamshala — Chinese authorities arrested Tulku Dorje Ten Rinpoche, Director of the “Dorje Ten Ethnic Vocational School" in Jigdril County, Golog, north-eastern Tibet, on December 4, 2025, and his whereabouts remain unknown. After arresting the Director, the Chinese authorities shut down the school and sent the students back to their homes. More than 1,000 students have graduated from the school and hundreds of students are attending universities. The school had more than 1,300 students in 2024, but like other Tibetan-run schools, it has also faced difficulties and has been threatened with closure from the Chinese government since 2024.
