Dharamshala — Five Tibetan activists commenced the 7th Peace Rally Marathon for Tibet from Ottawa to Toronto on Wednesday, to protest Beijing's repressive policies in Tibet. The marathon formally urges the Canadian government and the international community to demand the repeal of China's so-called "Ethnic Unity and Progress Law," which legalizes systematic cultural erasure.
The 7th Peace Rally Marathon for Tibet officially kicked off in front of the Embassy of China in Ottawa on September 23, 2026. Members of the Ottawa Tibetan Community Association gathered outside the embassy to hold a brief opening ceremony to launch the event. Demonstrating solidarity for Tibetan freedom and human rights in Tibet, the rally leader Pema Kunga formally initiated the rally, marking the start of the marathon dedicated to raising global awareness for the Tibetan cause.
