Dharamshala — The office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama has confirmed that His Holiness had no connection with Epstein, in response to recent press articles and social media posts concerning the ‘Epstein files’ that attempt to link His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Jeffrey Epstein. The office stated: ''We can unequivocally confirm that His Holiness has never met Jeffrey Epstein or authorised any meeting or interaction with him by anyone on His Holiness’s behalf," the office confirmed.
Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (Gaden Phodrang) on February 8,2025, from Drepung Monastery, Mungod, South India, released press statement regarding recent "Epstein files" and it states,” Some recent media reports and social media posts concerning the “Epstein files” are attempting to link His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Jeffrey Epstein.”
''We can unequivocally confirm that His Holiness has never met Jeffrey Epstein or authorised any meeting or interaction with him by anyone on His Holiness’s behalf," the office confirmed.
The Chinese government, certain media outlets and individuals are attempting to use this information to defame and damage the positive international image of the Dalai Lama, a peaceful and compassionate leader and Nobel Prize laureate. But the truth is the truth: His Holiness the Dalai Lama has never met Epstein and has no connection with him. Wherever he goes, thousands of people follow him, and thousands more come to see him from all over the world to receive his blessings and teachings.
Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of India wrote, "The revered institution of "The Dalai Lama" should not be casually linked with the "Epstein Files" or any other issues, with the motive of damaging the sacred institution. We shouldn't become the casualties of immoral-lifestyle, hookup-culture and unconventional-relationships."
Pema Khandu, the chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh wrote,” The revered institution of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama must not be dragged into baseless narratives or malicious speculation like the so-called "Epstein files". Attempts to malign a sacred spiritual institution through misinformation are deeply irresponsible and condemnable.”
Prem Singh Tamang, the Chief Minister of Sikkim wrote, "The sacred institution of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama must not be dragged into unfounded controversies or casually linked to fabricated narratives such as the so-called "Epstein files." As a society, we must uphold moral clarity and restraint, refusing to become victims of misinformation, sensationalism, and reckless cultural trends, and ensure that respect for spiritual institutions, truth, and ethical values prevails over propaganda and distortion."
