New Delhi — The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) organised a strong protest outside the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in New Delhi on June 7, 2026. The demonstrators protested against the Chinese government's ongoing political repression in Tibet and the implementation of the so-called "ethnic unity" law, while also paying tribute to the sacrifice of Tibetan patriot Lobga Rangzen, who sacrificed his life for the cause of Tibet.
The Tibetan Youth Congress also sent an open letter to the Embassy of People's Republic of China in New Delhi on the same day and they said,"This is not merely a letter. It is a message carried by the final sacrifice of Tibetan patriot Lobga Rangzen, whose body was engulfed in flames because our homeland had been occupied and our people deprived of their freedom. His last act was not one of despair, it was one of resistance. he raised the Tibetan National Flag and he stood on fire, and declared to the world: "Free Tibet, China Out of Tibet."
"Rangzen Lobga sacrificed his life because, he view that the root cause of the Tibetan tragedy is simple: China occupied our country, we lost our independence and the continued political control exercised by the so-called People's Republic of China over Tibet. He sacrificed himself for the cause of Tibet and its Independence because decades of political repression, cultural destruction, restrictions on religious freedom, transnational repression, and now the implementation of the so-called "Ethnic Unity Law."
"You call it a law of unity. In reality you are trying to legalize the genocide, a legal procedure design to erase the identity of oppressed people. A law that weakens a nation's language, religion, culture, and history cannot be called unity. Unity cannot be imposed through assimilation. Unity cannot be manufactured through fear. Unity without freedom is not unity at all.
"For almost seven decades, the so-called Chinese Communist government has attempted to suppress and silence Tibetans inside Tibet and across the world. Military occupation, surveillance, imprisonment, propaganda, misinformation, disinformation campaigns, and enormous financial investment to reshape historical narratives, But failed to extinguish the Tibetan people's aspiration for freedom.
"Despite immense pressure, Tibetans have not disappeared. They have become more resilient. Every attempt to erase our identity has strengthened our determination to preserve it. Every effort to silence us has inspired new voices to speak. Every sacrifice has produced a new generation committed to carrying forward the cause of Tibet.
"The oppressor dream of creating "one big China" through coercion will remain only that a dream. so as long as Tibetans continue to preserve their national identity and seek justice. Ideas cannot be imprisoned. History cannot be rewritten simply through repetition. National identity cannot be erased by decree.
"Rangzen Lobga made his message unmistakably clear: "the root cause of the Tibetan issue is that Tibet lost its independence after China took control of our land."
"The Tibetan Youth Congress has never wavered in its position. We firmly stands and believe that the Tibetan people have the right to determine their own future, and our mission remains unchanged: to reclaim our country, Tibet, from the foreign occupation.
"This is perhaps one of the most important moments for the so-called Government of the People's Republic of China to resume sincere and meaningful dialogue with the Tibetan Government in Exile, Dialogue is not a sign of weakness. It is the mark of confidence. Nations secure in their legitimacy do not fear conversation. History has shown that governments can suppress protests, imprison individuals, and control information, but they cannot permanently extinguish a people's aspiration for freedom and dignity.
"The world has changed. Information travels across borders in seconds. Voices cannot be silenced as they once were. Attempts to conceal injustice face greater international scrutiny than ever before. Rangzen Lobga's sacrifice will not never be a forgotten chapter despite will be the source of motivation. It should serve as a warning that unresolved political conflicts continue to carry profound human consequences.
"We therefore call upon the so-called Government of the People's Republic of China to end its illegal occupation of Tibet and respect the Tibetan people's inherent right to self-determination.
"The Chinese government must recognize the legitimate aspiration of the Tibetan people and restore Tibet's independence. Lasting peace and stability cannot be achieved through repression, forced assimilation, or military control, but only by ending occupation and respecting the will of the Tibetan people. We urge China to choose justice over oppression, freedom over domination, and peace over continued confrontation.
"History will judge not only those who resisted oppression, but also those who had the opportunity to pursue peace and chose otherwise. Act now or regret later," the Tibetan activists of Tibetan Youth Congress said.
