Dharamshala — Tibetan Youth Congress announced new campaign to counter the Chinese government’s disinformation campaign and false narratives against the Tibetan martyr Lobga Rangzen’s self-immolation. The Tibetan activists said, "We challenge the false narratives propagated by the so-called Chinese government regarding Tibet and ensure that the sacrifice of the martyr Lobga Rangzen is neither distorted nor forgotten. No propaganda can erase the aspirations of the Tibetan people or rewrite the realities they have endured."
Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) held a press conference at the site of the hunger strike, at the Tibetan market, near the Dalai Lama's temple in Dharamshala, on July 27, 2026. TYC's Vice President Tashi Dharjee and General Secretary Tenzin Lobsang, provided an update on the ongoing hunger strike in Dharamshala said that 64 Tibetans have taken part in the hunger strike since it began; they will continue the protest until the 49th day following the self-immolation of Tibetan martyr Lobga Rangzen, on July 2, 2026, in front of UN headquarters in New York.
They further announced a new campaign aimed at countering the Chinese government's disinformation campaign and misleading narratives regarding the self-immolation of Tibetan martyr Lobga Rangzen.
TYC's Vice President Tashi Dharjee said,"It has now been one week since the Tibetan Youth Congress launched the "Worldwide Chain Protest," a peaceful global movement dedicated to seek justice for Tibet and honoring the sacrifice of Martyr Lobga Rangzen. What began in Dharamshala has rapidly grown into a worldwide campaign. Under the guidance of the Tibetan Youth Congress Centrex, solidarity actions have already been organised in Dalhousie, Kalimpong. Dekyiling, Kullu, Odisha, Rajpur, Tenzin Khang, and many other places, with new chapters and communities joining the movement every day."
"Here in Dharamshala, we began our Chain Hunger Strike on July 19, 2026, and it continues today (July 27) as a symbol of our unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and the fundamental rights of the Tibetan people. This movement is peaceful in its methods but resolute in its purpose," he added.
The Vice President said, "At the same time. In New York, Tibetans and supporters lead by Regional Tibetan youth Congress New York and New Jersey are holding peaceful demonstrations every Wednesday and Saturday in front of the United Nations Headquarters, ensuring that the United Nation must respond as Martry Lobga Rangzen made the ultimate sacrifice in front of the United Nations Headquarters, we urge the United Nations to issue a meaningful and formal response by addressing the grave human rights situation in Tibet and the circumstances that compelled his sacrifice and the unresolved issue of Tibet and the aspirations of the Tibetan people."
Tenzin Lobsang said, "Today, we are here not only to provide an update on the "Worldwide Chain Protest," but also to announce the next phase of our campaign: a coordinated effort to challenge the false narratives promoted by the so-called Chinese government about Tibet and to ensure that the sacrifice of Martyr Lobga Rangzen is neither distorted nor forgotten. No amount of propaganda can erase the aspirations of the Tibetan people or rewrite the realities they have endured."
"We call upon Tibetans to join the campaign to counter the Chinese government's disinformation and false narratives regarding our self-immolators, sacrificing their lives for the freedom of Tibet, the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the independence of Tibet. The struggle for Tibet is not only being fought on the streets, it is also being fought in the information space. False narratives must be challenged with truth, documentation, research, art, and the voices of people of conscience around the world. Silence only strengthens repression; truth is our strongest response," he added.
"Therefore, the Tibetan Youth Congress calls upon every Tibetan, regardless of age or profession, to become part of this campaign. We invite scholars, writers, researchers, artists, filmmakers, students, journalists, professionals, social media creators, and every concerned citizen to contribute their knowledge, creativity, and voice. Whether through writing, public engagement, research, artwork, videos, or advocacy, every contribution helps preserve the truth about Tibet and strengthens our collective movement," the TYC activists said.
The Tibetan activists said, "This is more than a campaign, it is a responsibility to history. Future generations will ask whether we stood up when truth was challenged and justice was denied. Let our answer be that we stood together, we spoke with courage, and we refused to allow Tibet's story to be rewritten. The Tibetan Youth Congress will continue to expand this Worldwide Chain Protest until our United Nation respond. We urge governments, international institutions, media organisations, and people of conscience across the world to pay attention, engage with the facts, and stand with the Tibetan people's right to preserve their identity, dignity, and future."
