Dharamshala — More than 20 India Tibet support groups in India offered long life prayers for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, in Dharamshala on Wednesday. More than 500 Indians from different religious and cultural backgrounds participated in the ceremony to pray for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama attended a Long Life Offering (Tenshug) Ceremony organised by 24 Tibet Support Groups in India under the aegis of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause–India at the courtyard of the Tibetan Main Temple (Thekchen Choeling Tsuglakhang) in Dharamshala on March 11, 2026. More 500 Indians and representatives presented in the ceremony and they also presented cultural performances to the His Holiness and audience gathering there.
Namgyal Monastery chanted the respective verses the convenor of the Core Group and two senior members of the Tibet Support Groups offered a mandala and representations of the body, speech and mind of the Buddha to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
'The Song of Immortality - The Extensive Prayer for the Long Life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama' by his two tutors was recited first in Hindi, led by Kailash Chandra Baudh, and then in Tibetan. Then Indians and representatives of different religious and cultural backgrounds people in India presented Tenshug offerings, Tibetan and Indian flags were presented to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
RK Khrimey, the Ex-MP and Ex-Cabinet Minister, Arunachal Pradesh National Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause- India and senior members of the All-India Tibet Support Groups released a Tenshug Souvenir. After that they presented His Holiness with a ‘Karuna Ratna’, a Jewel of Compassion, which consisted of a golden bodhi-leaf with a Dharma wheel on one side and a hand in the teaching mudra on the other.
RK Khrimey, the National Convener of Core Group for Tibetan Cause- India addressed the gathering and said,"With folded hands and hearts filled with devotion, we stand before Your Holiness as representatives of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause — India- a national family of twenty-four Tibet Support Groups across this country, united in spirit with countless friends and well-wishers."
"On this sacred occasion of Tenshug (long-life prayer), we offer our deepest prayers for Your Holiness' long life, radiant health and the continued flow of your compassion for the benefit of all sentient beings. May your presence remain a guiding light for humanity," he added.
He said, "Today, with renewed resolve and deep emotion, we solemnly reaffirm:
1. To strive earnestly for the resumption of the suspended dialogue between the emissaries of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the representatives of the People's Republic of China.
2. To uphold, honour, and safeguard the Statement Affirming the Continuation of the centuries-old Institution of the Dalai Lama, declared on 2 July 2025, free from any external interference.
3. To keep alive, with unwavering dedication, the flame of Tibet and the just aspirations of the Tibetan people in every national and international forum.
“We make this pledge in faith, in gratitude, and in hope —offering it as our humble Tenshuk for the His Holiness the Dala Lama, and for a future where truth, compassion, and justice may prevail for Tibet and Tibetan people,” Rinchin Khandu Khrimey concluded his speech.
