Dharamshala, India — The spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has written to Uzra Zeya to congratulate her on being appointed the United States Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues. His Holiness expressed the hope that she will be able to contribute significantly towards improving the situation of the Tibetan people.

Washington, DC — “Direct dialogue without preconditions between the government of the People's Republic of China and His Holiness the Dalai Lama or his representatives, is essential to resolve differences and achieve meaningful autonomy for Tibetans,” said the new U.S. Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues Uzra Zeya.

Dharamshala, India —“ Spiritual practitioners need to be able to identify with practitioners who belong to other traditions, recognize what they have in common - ethics, avoid harm, and cultivate a warm heart and compassion. Along with patience and forgiveness, these are universal values,” said His Holiness the Dalai Lama on December 17, 2021.

Washington, D.C, US — “Four of the last five Presidents have hosted the Tibetan spiritual leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in the White House. President Biden can demonstrate the importance of His Holiness’ message on the moral necessity of addressing climate change by inviting His Holiness to meet in the Oval Office to discuss their shared interests in the environment and the peaceful resolution of conflict,” said a bipartisan group of 27 U.S. House lawmakers in a letter to President Biden.
