Dharamshala, India —National Democratic Party of Tibet and Tibetans in India organized a solidarity prayer meeting to pray for Tibetans in Tibet who are in critical condition due to the covid-19 epidemic and the hardships they face due to China's "zero covid" policy and the unfair treatment in isolation centers in Tibet, especially in Lhasa.

National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT) organised a solidarity prayer for Tibetan brothers and sisters in Tibet to overcome the recent outbreak of covid-19 in Lhasa and other parts of Tibet, at Tsuglhakhang, the main Tibetan temple in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamshala, H.P., India on September 21, 2022. Tibetans from Mcleod Ganj joined the solidarity prayer and chanted prayers.

The organiser of the prayer meeting, the President of NDPT, Tashi Dhondup said, “this prayer meeting is for our Tibetan brothers and sisters in Tibet, who have died and are suffering from the covid-19 pandemic in Tibet, and from natural disasters, including the floods, the earthquake in recent eastern Tibet, as well as for all our Tibetans who are suffering from the cruel policies of the Chinese communist party.”

“In our prayer meeting, we have Tibetan monks from Namgyal Monastery and Kirti Monastery, as well as Tibetan nuns from Gaden Choeling Monastery, and Tibetans from the Mcleod Ganj area, it is a solidarity prayer for our Tibetans inside Tibet, who are in critical condition because of the covid-19 pandemic and the difficulties they face because of China's "zero covid" policy and the unfair treatment in the isolation centers in Tibet, especially in Lhasa,” he added.

“According to Tibetan sources, the Tibetan patients were given inedible food in the isolation centers and the facilities in the centers are very poor, the Chinese authorities instead of helping the patients to recover from the diseases, they mixed all the people in the centers without separating the patients who are negative and positive (forcibly removed from the house), the Chinese government must have planned evil intentions behind this, we must be aware of it,” the President of NDPT said.

“Although today's meeting is only a solidarity prayer for Tibetans inside Tibet, who are in critical condition due to the covid-19 pandemic. We will organise protest and awareness programs for Tibetans who have encountered difficulties due to China's "zero covid" policy and unjust treatment in the isolation centers,” Tashi mentioned.

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), at the Samyeling Tibetan settlement, Delhi, India, is holding a five-day prayer meeting for Tibetan brothers and sisters in Tibet from September 20 to 25, 2022. The purpose is to pray for their quick recovery from the pandemic and to express solidarity with them in the covid crisis in Tibet.
