Dharamshala, India — Dr Lobsang Sangay, President of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE) on behalf of six million Tibetan people outside and inside Tibet congratulated Nancy Pelosi for being re-elected as the House Speaker for the fourth term on January 4, 2021.

“It gives me great joy to congratulate you on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people for your well-deserved re-election as the House Speaker for the fourth non-consecutive term,” addressed the Tibetan political leader in his congratulatory notes to the US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for securing a fourth term as the Speaker for the House of Representatives.

“You are known as a fearless leader who always endeavoured for greater good irrespective of the challenges. Through your leadership, you ensured equality and inclusivity of all and championed significant issues, including human rights,” he noted.

“We can’t thank you enough for being a powerful voice against the Chinese government’s human rights violations and injustices, including in Tibet. Thank you for securing the passage of landmark legislation such as the Tibet Policy and Support Act 2019 that seeks to challenge China’s spiralling human rights violations and growing defiance of the international laws. I hope that other democracies would follow the US lead,” Sikyong added.

“I had the privilege of meeting several times and your visit to Dharamshala is immemorial. We once again express our sincerest congratulations and wish you success in all your endeavours and may you continue to be the beacon of hope and inspiration,” conveyed Dr Sangay recalling the several encounters between him and the Speaker before.

Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, the Deputy Speaker also offered his heartfelt congratulations on the behalf of the 16th TPiE and all Tibetans in and outside Tibet to Speaker Nancy Pelosi of the United States House of Representatives on being re-elected as the House Speaker for the fourth term.

“You are one of the genuine and ardent supporters who have closely been with our struggle. We are truly grateful to you for your consistent support and kindness towards the Tibetans and also thankful for the recent passage of Tibet Support and Policy Act 2020. We truly admire your leadership and determination of working towards a better cause,” stated the Deputy Speaker

“You have been a Champion of International Democracy and Human rights. Your victory signifies the faith and trust that people have in your leadership. Your Honesty, dedication, sincerity and humility as a leader is truly admirable. I would like to thank you on behalf of the Tibetans inside Tibet in particular. We appreciate and applaud you for always standing by Truth, Justice and Human Values. Under your leadership and guidance and with the support of the US Government, we hope to resolve the issue of Tibet at the earliest,” delivered Speaker Yeshi Phuntsok.

“I would like to congratulate you once again. I pray and wish you success in all your future endeavours,” he concluded.
