Tenzin Phenthok is a monk at Drepung Loseling. He has lived his whole life in Mundgod, and talked with the Tibet Post about his life and dreams, the ways the settlement could develop, and the importance of dialogue between ordinary Tibetans and Chinese.

The Tibetan settlement at Mundgod was established in 1966. After the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959, His Holiness the Dalai Lama requested land from Indian Prime Minister Nehru. He envisioned places where Tibetans could live together and keep their culture alive. His Holiness sent requests to each state of India, and the Chief Minister of Karnataka accepted, granting large parcels of land to Tibetan refugees.

Dharamshala: - Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the chairman of Central Tibetan Administration launched a new comprehensive Tibetan dictionary authored by Mr. Lobsang Tendar at a function in Gangchen Kyishong where Central Tibetan Administration based, Wednesday (18th May). Tendar is a lexicographer and editor who is currently working as the editor of text books at the Tibetan Children's Village school in Dharamshala.

Dharamshala: As a child from rural Tibet, Denwa Jigmey couldn't get the education opportunities he so eagerly wanted to become a teacher. However, after escaping to India he was helped along by individual sponsors and several organisations, and today, Denwa is helping Tibetan children to receive the education he never got through his work in the charity foundation Rewa (Hope) in Belgium, where he currently lives.

Dharamshala:-Lha doesn't look like many other schools. Founded in 1997 by an American Social Work Professor from the Tulane University in Louisiana, the non-profit organisation based in McLeod Ganj (Dharamsala) provides various courses to students from heterogenous backgrounds. From English lessons to photography classes, the assocation gives many learning opportunities to those in need.

Dharamshala: The religious and political leader of Tibet His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on Monday (07 February) told a crowd that the 21st century as the century of dialogue and called for a worldwide campaign to resolve conflicts and problems through dialogue. His Holiness said wars are fought to gain political power or economic interest, but he also stressed those in political power use religion to manipulate people.

Dharamshala: All teachings of lord Buddha and Buddhist texts, which were not available in Tibetan, should be translated into Tibetan language, said His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tibet's political and spiritual leader while delivering the valedictory address at the four day Tengyur conference which held on Tuesday at the Buddhist holy city of Varanasi in India.

Dharamshala: A bold new initiative of McLeod Ganj's Institute of Buddhist Dialectics is a project to translate the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama into different Tibetan regional dialects, in an effort to reach out to the broader Tibetan community from all three provinces, many of whom cannot understand standard Tibetan and are thereby denied the wisdom and guidance of His Holiness.

Dharamshala: A new dictionary written by Tibetan scholars inside Tibet titled , "Chinese-Tibetan-English Dictionary of New Daily Vocabulary" was launched at a press conference on Thursday by Thupten Lungrig, the education Minister of Tibetan government in-exile.

Dharamshala: Tibetan Women's Association yesterday started an eleven day advanced Leadership Training for Tibetan Women in Exile to stand up challenging their roles in the decision making arena. This is "to strengthening the whole Tibetan democratic community by empowering our women," said Kirti Dolkar Lhamo, the president of TWA.
