Dharamshala: - To mark ‘World Day Against Cyber-Censorship', Reporters Without Borders is releasing an updated 2012 list of "Enemies of the Internet" and "countries under surveillance." Two countries, Bahrain and Belarus, have passed from the "countries under surveillance" to the "Enemies of the Internet" category. Venezuela and Libya have been dropped from the "under surveillance" category while India and Kazakhstan have been added to it.

The National Endowment for Democracy, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Washington, DC and the Vaclav Havel Library, Prague, Czech Republic, held a Memorial Tribute honoring the life and work of Vaclav Havel today in Washington, D.C. NED Carl Gershman read His Holiness the Dalai Lama's message (see text below) while Secretary Madeleine Albright read a statement from President Obama. There was a video message from Aung San Suu Kyi, too.

Dharamshala: In an address the 17th Karmapa, officially known as His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, made to the media regarding the end of the current year and the fast approaching new year, he stated that he wishes we live this year with mutual love and respect for one another and for the earth that is our common home.

Dharamshala, India: - Mr Tenpa Soepa, a retired civil servant of Tibetan government, who later underwent twenty years of untold suffering after the Chinese invasion of Tibet, passed away in New Delhi on 13 December 2011. He was 78.
