Dharamshala — Chinese authorities in northern Tibet destroyed large numbers of Mani stone piles (Dobang), prayer flags, and Lung-Ta (wind horses), which embody a spiritual tradition of carving mantras on stones and inscribing sacred mantras on colored cloth. This act not only violates religious freedom but also constitutes psychological torture for Tibetans who have long followed the custom of circumambulating Mani piles to accumulate merit and perform good deeds.

Dharamshala — Chinese police detained three Tibetans, including a monk from Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery, in Sangchu County, northeastern Tibet, earlier this year. Due to the severe restrictions China imposes on the free flow of information from Tibet, no detailed information is available about them, but according to some sources, they were detained on suspicion of maintaining contact with Tibetans in exile.

Dharamshala — The Chinese government has implemented a series of measures aimed at “promoting the concept of a single Chinese nation” in the Lhoka region of Tibet, imposing a “love for China” on the Tibetan people, and forcing Tibetan children in primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, and other institutions in the city of Lhoka to prioritize the study and dissemination of the Chinese language, to undergo mandatory “patriotic education,” and to demand compliance with and enforcement of orders issued by Xi Jinping.

Dharamshala — In recent years, the Chinese authorities tightened restrictions on social media activities, particularly live streaming and the uploading of videos in the Tibetan language. In Shigatse alone, the Chinese police arrested 97 Tibetans in the name of "Cybersecurity Law" in 2025. A Tibetan woman said: "All videos in Tibetan are banned, any video speaking in Tibetan is labelled as "illegal". Is speaking Tibetan illegal? It really makes me upset."

Dharamshala — The Chinese authorities prohibit Tibetans from creating logos featuring religious symbols or the Tibetan language. They have tightened restrictions on the use of the Tibetan language in daily life, as well as on Buddhist symbols on logos and signs. They have further restricted the publication of Tibetan books, arrested Tibetan publishers, and banned the display of Thangkas and wearing traditional Tibetan hats. The aim is to eliminate all aspects of Tibetan identity.

Dharamshala — Tibetan political prisoners Gangkye Drukpa Kyab and Tsering Dolma are in critical condition and their health has deteriorated in the Chinese prisons. They were sentenced to 14 and 8 years in prison respectively for writing on the 2008 Tibet uprising and staging peaceful protests against the Chinese communist Party(CCP).
