Twenty-three years ago, on 4th June 1989 at about 5 am, Chinese army tanks rolled into Beijing's Tiananmen Square. Hundreds of demonstrators, possibly more than a thousand, were killed and thousands were shot and wounded.

Dharamsala, May 31^st, 2012: Tibet Women's Association (TWA) grieves the death of Rikyo (aged 36), mother of three children who died after setting herself alight outside the Jonang Dzamthang monastery in the town of Barma, in Dzamthang in Amdo Ngaba on May 30. It marks the 6^thth case since 2009 and 25th since January 2012.

It's 99 years since Tibet's last proclaimation of independence, and since the Chinese occupation has denied the Tibetan people the right to express their views on their nation, the 1913 proclaimation remains the last legitimate statement of Tibet's status.

A round table conference for Tibet was held on the afternoon of 15th November in Trento, with the Presidents of the Italian Autonomous regions of Trentino and Alto Adige. Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, spiritual and political leader of the Tibetan people, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 and an exile from his land since 1959, spoke today in Trento at the invitation of the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Italy-Tibet Association.
