Dharamshala — His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived at his residence in Dharamshala Today from New Delhi after staying at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery and Gyudmed Tantric University, South India for one and half months. Tibetan monks from three monasteries offered him prayers for long life and His Holiness gave teachings and empowerment to the monks, nuns and lay people there.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama departed from Dharamshala via New Delhi to South India on January 3, 2025. He stayed one night in New Delhi and traveled to Bengaluru on January 4, 2025. He also stayed one night in Bengaluru and traveled to Bylakuppé, Karnataka, India on January 5, 2025. His Holiness the Dalai Lama stayed at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Bylakuppé, Karnataka, India until February 16, 2025.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended a prayer gathering at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery on January 9, 2025, where an estimated 12,000 people, monks, nuns and lay people, gathered in and around the temple to pray for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Dingri County, Tibet, on January 7, 2025, killing 126 Tibetans, injuring 188 and destroying 3609 homes. His Holiness also attended a presentation of Debate at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery on January 18, 2025.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended a Long Life paryer offered him by Monks from the Sera Monastery, at Sera Lachi Monastery, Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India, on february 5, 2025. Monks from Tashi Lhunpo Monastery also offered long life prayer to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in the debate yard of the Monastery, in Bylakuppé, Karnataka, India, on February 13, 2025. Monks and nuns filled the temple, while more monks, nuns and lay-people sat in the debate yard under a huge awning. An estimated 25000 people gathered to receive the empowerment, with many Tibetans coming from other settlements in Karnataka.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Tashi Lhunpo monastery for Gyumé Tantric University in Hunsur, Karnataka, India, and 50 km from Bylakuppé, on February 16, 2025. Monks and lay people lined the roads to see him off. Arriving in Hunsur, monks and lay people also lined the roads to enthusiastically welcome His Holiness. He was greeted by the Ganden Trisur Rinpoché, the Shartsé Chöjé, the Abbot and Vice-Abbot of Gyumé and the Representative of Hunsur Settlement. The former Ganden Tri Rinpoché then led the way into the Gyumé assembly hall.
Monks from Gyudmed Tantric University offered a long life prayer to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, at the assembly hall of the University, on February 17, 2025. A long mandala offering was performed to request His Holiness the Dalai Lama to live long, followed by a recitation of the Prayer for His Holiness’s Long Life by his two Tutors.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama departed from Gyumé Tantric University in Hunsur to New Delhi via Bengaluru on February 18, 2025, stayed in New Delhi for three nights and arrived at his residence in Dharamshala on February 21, 2025. Tibetans, Buddhists and Indians came to Gaga airport to greet His Holiness and people lined the road from Dharamshala to his residence in Mcleod Ganj to welcome him with greeting banners, khatas, incense sticks and flowers.
Immediately after arriving at his residence, His Holiness the Dalai Lama took a photo with the fresh snow that fell yesterday on the Dhauladhar Mountains, which was shared by many Tibetans on social media.
