Dharamashala — The Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group (V-TAG) invites Tibetans to write heartfelt wishes to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on the occasion of his 90th birthday. These wishes can take many forms, including written birthday greetings, poems and songs. V-TAG will present these wishes to His Holiness on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
V-TAG members held a press conference on February 8, 2025 at TSO hall, Tibetan Settlement Office, Mcleod Ganj, Dharamshala, HP, India, to launch the global tribute campaign in honor of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's 90th birthday, which will be celebrated on July 6, 2025.
Tenzing Dheden, Coordinator of V-TAG, Dharamshala said, "This campaign is a heartfelt tribute to His Holiness and will culminate in a special commemorative book filled with handwritten birthday wishes from people around the globe. These messages will be collected, compiled, and presented as a unique gift to His Holiness on this significant occasion."
"This is an opportunity for everyone to express their love, gratitude, admiration, and support for His Holiness. It's not about the number of birthday wishes collected but about seizing this once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of history. His Holiness's 90th Birthday is a momentous occasion for all of us," Tenzin Kelsang said, member of V-TAG.
'This is not just a campaign—it is a celebration of 90 years of unwavering compassion, wisdom, and peace. This milestone is an opportunity to honor His Holiness's profound impact on the world and to continue spreading his message of kindness and unity,' they wrote.
They also explained how to take part in the campaign: write your message on an A4 sheet in landscape format, leaving a 2-inch margin on the left-hand side for binding (recycled paper is preferable). (For more information, visit Instagram @vtag.india. )
"Once your letter is ready, submit it to your nearest V-TAG coordinator. If you are in India, you can drop off or mail your letter to: Hope Café and Stories, Jogiwara Rd, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh 176219. For participants outside India, you can reach out to the V-TAG coordinator in your region for submission details, or you may directly send your letter by post to Hope Café at the above address. Campaign Timeline: The campaign runs from February 8, until May 15, 2025," they said.
