Dharamshala — A conference entitled "Women’s Empowerment in Tibetan Buddhism: His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s Aspirations and Efforts," was held in Dharamshala, bringing together 86 nuns from 13 nunneries in India and Nepal. The conference focused on the institutionalisation of the geshema degree and the role of Tibetan nuns in serving society. The Geshemas also discussed how nuns and Geshemas can make a positive contribution to Tibetan societies and the wider world.

Dharamshala — His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended a Long-life Prayer offered to him by Central Dokham Chushi Gangdruk and Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association on Wednesday, at the Main Tibetan Temple. The organisations also presented two “Gratitude Awards” to their spiritual leader, to express their gratitude for his guidance and teachings on compassion, peace, and harmony, as well as for his commitment to a peaceful and compassionate world.

Leh, Ladakh — On the occasion of his birthday celebration, Thiksay Rinpoche presented the Thiksey Medal to Tenzin Taklha, Secretary of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in recognition of his wisdom and compassion, as well as his lifelong contribution to the Tibetan community in exile and to the noble vision of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Dharamshala — To mark the 31st anniversary of the abduction of the 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, Tibetan activists held protests in front of Chinese Consulates on May 17, 2026, in Canada, the US, Europe and India. They demanded the immediate release of the Panchen Lama and his family, who were abducted by the Chinese government in 1995.

Dharamshala — Around a hundred Tibetans gathered in Washington D.C. on Sunday to call on the US President to raise Tibetan issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping. These issues include the recently passed ‘Ethnic Unity Law’, human rights violations, the suppression of the Tibetan language, culture and religion, and the destruction of Tibet’s fragile environment.

Dharamshala — Tibet TV, Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration hosted screening of six documentary films including “A Buddhist Scientist,” “A Wisdom for the World”, "The Kinship, Traditions of Compassion”, “The Dalai Lama’s Touch”, “Wisdom of Debate”, and “Under the Dalai Lama’s Wings: Guardians of the Shelduck”, to celebrate the Year of Compassion and the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
