Sikyong Congratulates U.S. President-Elect and Members of Congress

Dharamshala — Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration extended his congratulations to US President-elect Donald Trump, Congressman Jim McGovern and Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi on their re-election to the US House of Representatives, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people.

On November 8, 2024, Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) wrote a congratulatory letter to former President Donald Trump, congratulating him on being elected as the next President of the United States.

Sikyong also wrote congratulatory letters to Congressman McGovern and Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi, congratulating them on being re-elected to the US House of Representatives, on November 6, 2024. Congressman McGovern and Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi are fervent supporters of the Tibetan cause and friends of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Sikyong wrote to U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump, "In these challenging times, America’s leadership continues to remain a vital force towards addressing the pressing global challenges and safeguarding the pillars of global stability—peace, prosperity, and the rule of law.”

Sikyong further wrote, “For decades, the United States has stood as Tibet’s steadfast ally, with bipartisan support across the Congress and successive administrations demonstrating a robust and unwavering Tibet policy. We are grateful for the support and look forward to building on this longstanding effort with renewed hope and faith in your leadership.”

Sikyong wrote to Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi,"Your continued presence in Congress represents a beacon of hope not only for your constituents but for advocates of human rights and democracy worldwide.” He also expressed deep gratitude for the special bond that Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi shares with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and her longstanding commitment to the Tibetan cause.

Sikyong said, “Your enduring support and advocacy for Tibetan rights are etched into the legislative initiatives on Tibet that you have championed in Congress, and we are profoundly grateful for your steadfast role in this mission. Throughout your remarkable career, you have consistently demonstrated a powerful commitment to human rights and human dignity—not only for the Tibetan people but also for oppressed communities worldwide. Your principled leadership shines as a beacon of hope, inspiring millions around the globe to stand for justice and compassion.”

In his letter to Congressman Jim McGovern, Sikyong wrote, “Your continued presence in Congress represents a beacon of hope not only for your constituents, but for advocates of human rights and democracy worldwide.”

Sikyong said, “Time and again, your moral leadership and approach to global challenges have set a sterling example of how elected officials can effect meaningful change on the international stage. Your persistent efforts to hold China accountable for its human rights violations in Tibet, as well as your powerful advocacy for religious freedom and cultural preservation, have further strengthened the voice and aspirations of the Tibetan people.”

“The Tibetan people are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated friend and advocate in Congress, and we look forward to continuing our work together to advance the cause of human rights, dignity, and freedom for Tibet and oppressed peoples worldwide,” Sikyong concluded.
