Tokyo — 9th World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet ends with three declarations in Tokyo. It states, "Recognise and reaffirm that Tibet was historically an independent nation, prior to the forceful invasion and occupation of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) since 1950. it condemn the continued violation of human rights by the PRC in Tibet."

Tokyo — The 9th World Parliamentarians' Convention on Tibet (WPCT) commenced on Tuesday in Tokyo, Japan. “The PRC's occupation of Tibet is illegal, it was never legal, and Tibetans have every right to self-determination. Therefore, I call on legislators around the world to pass laws, to recognise Tibet as an occupied land and not as provinces of China,” said Nancy Pelosi, Speaker Emerita of the US House of Representatives.

Dharamshala — Top officials from the US and EU expressed their concerns about a missing Tibetan Buddhist monk who disappeared three years ago, calling on the government of the People's Republic of China to reveal his whereabouts and release him, along with his family and teacher.

The Swiss parliamentarians of the Swiss Parliamentary Group for Tibet asked the Swiss government to demand the Chinese government immediately reveal the whereabouts of Gendun Choeki Nyima and his family.

New York — Human Rights Watch calls on the Chinese government to release the 11th Panchen Lama Gedhun Choekyi Nyima of Tibet and his parents, who were forcibly abducted by Chinese authorities on May 17, 1995. This year marks the 30th anniversary of their disappearance.
