Geneva – The United Nations human rights chief Volker Türk has expressed his concerns over China's education policies in Tibet, restrictions on freedom of expression and religion of Tibetans. China has forcibly placed over a million Tibetan children in Chinese colonial boarding schools and taught them only Chinese language and culture, with the aim of eliminating Tibetan identity.

Washington, D.C. – Freedom House released its "Freedom in the World 2024" report on Thursday and ranked Tibet among the world's least free countries with zero (0) in political and civil liberties. The report said that "In Tibet, the CCP aggressively defends its monopoly on political power, and any expression of support for selfdetermination is severely punished. As a result, Tibet is one of the least free places in the world, with an aggregate score that is even lower than China’s."

London — The British Museum has removed the Chinese word “Xizang” for Tibet and rewritten Tibet in its Silk Road exhibition. Tibetans in the UK and Tibetan activists have called on the museum to remove the word “Xizang” and write Tibet, as “Xizang” is a colonial term imposed by China to erase Tibet's true identity.

Geneva — Namkyi, a former political prisoner, shared her terrible experience of persecution by the Chinese authorities in 2015 at the 17th Geneva 2025 Summit for Human Rights and Democracy on Tuesday. She said, “This is not just the story of my life, but that of thousands of Tibetans. Millions of Tibetans inside Tibet still experience such suffering today.”

London — Tibetans, Taiwanese, Hong Kongers, Uyghurs, Chinese, Mongolians, Tower Hamlets residents and cross-party MPs gathered outside the Royal Mint Court in Tower Hill on Saturday, to protest against China's plan to build a mega embassy in Lodon, UK. They said this would increase opportunities for transnational repression of those who dare to stand up to the Chinese government.

Dharamshala — Chinese government published propaganda articles and videos about Tibet after the Tibetan film “Four Rivers, Six Ranges” premiered at the 54th International Film Festival in Rotterdam on February 1, 2025. Chinese social media accounts also attacked the Festival and the social media account of the director of the Tibetan film. The film is about Tibetan freedom fighters fought against Chinese armies in the 1950s, to protect Tibet from Chinese invasion.
