The documentary film won the ward at the 12th annual One World International Human Rights Documentary Friday, and its directors will receive the prize from former Czech president in Prague on Thursday, AP reported.
"The Sun Behind the Clouds" is directed by Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam, and it follows the His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for an eventful year that saw the 2008 protests in Tibet, the long march in India, the Beijing Olympics and the breakdown of the Sino-Tibetan talk.
Chinese authorities have pulled two Chinese movies; "Nangjing! Nangjina!" ("City of Life and Death"), about the Nanjing Massacre that occurred under the Japanese occupation of Nanjing in 1937, and "Quick Quick Slow", a comedy about ordinary people taking part in a dance competition, from the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2010 to protest against the screening of the Tibetan documentary.
