Dharamshala: Over 4,600 events were held in more than 177 countries today marking the International Day of Climate Action sponsored by the US-based NGO 350.org, one of which took place at the Tibetan Children's Village (TCV) in McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala. The event coincided with TCV's 49th anniversary, and was co-sponsored by the Environmental and Development Desk (EED) of the Department of International Relations and the Clean Upper Dharamsala Project (CUDP) of the Tibetan Settlement Office and Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement. It consisted of a panel discussion, photo exhibition, film screening, and signature campaign.

Taipei: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Catholic Cardinal Shan Kuo-Hsi took part in a series of religious talks titled "A Dialogue Between Man and Nature" on Wednesday morning, in Kaohsiung city, southern Taiwan. Prior to the proceedings, both parties conducted prayers for victims of the recent typhoon. Cardinal Shan emphasized the necessity of advance government preparation for natural disasters and the reduction of carbon emission. His Holiness the Dalai Lama stressed the need for expert opinions and viable solutions.

Dharamshala: After years of life in exile, a group of young Tibetan refugees are learning about their power to change their environment here in India-literally. On July 29th, 20 students from Volunteer Tibet's English conversation class authored a petition to the local Tibetan government highlighting the deplorable pollution McLeod Ganj faces and offering a number of solutions to the problem.

Dharamshala: Five people were killed, several injured and over 53 remained missing after heavy rains triggered a landslide in a remote and mountainous area of Dhartsedho county eastern Tibet (Now southwest China) on Thursday, said state-run Xinhua.

Dharamshala: In observation of UN World Environment Day, Lha Social Works, a Charitable Trust organized a mass trash collection project Friday, June 5th, 2009 in McLeod Ganj, India.  Over 50 people, including Lha staff, volunteers, and students, gathered to spread awareness and collect trash in the main streets of the city.

Dharamshala-Mr. Martin Rasser, an Austrian web developer, offering a free workshop on 7 May on Joomla content management system.  Joomla is a free system that can be used to manage websites easily,  it also helps in designing and maintaining websites and makes the task much easier as compared to some of the complicated software that is used . Some of the NGOs including Tibetan media in Dharamshala are already using Joomla because of its easy-to-use and user friendly nature.
