Buddhist Leaders appeal UN to ascertain 11th Panchen Lama's whereabouts

Dharamshala — On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the birth of the 11th Panchen Lama of Tibet on April 25, 2024, Buddhist leaders from the Himalaya appealed to foreign governments, the United Nations and the international community to adopt a motion requesting them to instruct their ambassadors to meet with the 11th Panchen Lama and to ascertain his whereabouts and well-being.

Dharamshala — Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) organised a ceremony to celebrate the 35th birthday of the 11th Panchen Lama of Tibet, and Chinese Communist Party government forcibly abducted six-year-old Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, his parents and his teacher Chadrel Rinpoche in 1995, and they have been missing ever since.

Dharamshala — A two-day conference on Tibetan-Mongolian Relations kicked off in Dharamshala on Monday. Telo Rinpoche, Representative from the Office of Tibet, Moscow, said: "Tibet's oldest friend and ally is Mongolia, but sometimes we forget our friends. There are bound to be many challenges, but we must face them and renew our relationship."
