Dharamshala: - Canadian journalist and Tibet specialist Michael Buckley discussed his latest book, Meltdown in Tibet, at a launch event in McLeod Ganj on February 16.

Meltdown in Tibet documents China's little known but systematic demolition of Tibet's ecosystems, a subject which Buckley has been investigating for the past decade.

Buckley spoke to a large audience about the comprehensive damage that is occurring in Tibet, from the accelerated melting of Himalayan snowcaps through mass coal burning in China and India to Chinese engineering conglomerates who are building damns along many of Tibet's largest rivers. Tibet's land, too, is being mined by Chinese companies to feed industry.

The author stated: "My book poses a lot of questions. Currently, not many of them have clear answers, but being aware of the situation is important."

Dharamshala: - Two Tibetan MPs went on an official tour from 22 December 2014 to 13 January 2015, to meet Tibetan sweater sellers in various Indian cities and towns.

"Mr Pema Jungney and Mr Dawa Tsering visited eight Indian major cities including Kolkata, Asansol, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Tatanagar, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Bodh Gaya," said a report by the Tibetan administration media.

During their meeting with the various Tibetan sweater-seller associations, they gave public talks on the situation inside Tibet and answered questions posed by the public regarding the issues facing Tibet.

The parliamentarians also discussed ways to resolve the challenges faced by the Tibetan sweater sellers regarding market spots, sales tax, Tibetan green book, etc. They returned to Dharamshala on 13 January.

Mundgod, South India: - Hundreds of Tibetan monks held a mass prayer last Sunday evening at the Gaden Jangtse Thoesam Norling in Mungod, South India.

"About 1,500 Tibetan monks gathered at the monastery on 30 December, 2014 as they chanted prayers for long life of the spiritual leader of Tibet His Holiness the Dalai Lama," Tenzin told Tibet Post International.

The mass prayer service was also offered for His Holiness the Dalai Lama's every wishes including peace prevail on the world.

His Holiness will continue his teachings on the 18 Great Stages of the Path (Lam Rim) Commentaries in Mundgod from December 23 to 29, at the request of H.E. Ling Choktrul Rinpoche and Gaden Shartse Monastery.

Dharamsala:- A global video-sharing website, Youtube, has deleted more 50 accounts following a rights organisation based in UK registered a formal complaint.

Free Tibet, a non-governmental organisation which campaigns for Tibetan self determination and highlights human rights violation in Tibet had sent a letter to thePhoto: Free Tibet company in September and submitted a detailed dossier identifying suspect accounts

Earlier in July the organisation managed to delete around 100 false account which were, according to Free Tibet, used to spread Chinese propaganda to portray ‘Tibet as a happy Chinese province.’

Dharamshala: - In what is cosidered to be a landmark decision, Goverment of India has formalisted the Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014.

After rounds of meetings with various ministries of Goverment of India, Central Tibetan Administration's Home Minister, Kalon Gyari Dolma received a copy of 7-paged document concerning the policy.

According to the official website of Central Tibetan Administration the "guideline has made a clear policy statement about the welfare of the Tibetans in India. Matter concerning land lease, extending Central and States benefits, are also specified."

It also says that Tibetan Refugees may also be permitted to pursue jobs in any field for which they are professionally qualified.

This new policy guidelines is an attempt to provide uniform poicy in all states where Tibetans reside and access to various government schemes and benefits.

Canberra: A four member Tibetan Parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Penpa Tsering visited the Australian Parliament on Wednesday, 27 August and met with some members of the Australian All-Party Parliamentary Group for Tibet including its Chairman Hon. Warren Entsch MP.

According to a report by the Tibetan administration, Speaker Penpa Tsering briefed the six MPs and two Senators present on the current political, environmental and human rights situation inside Tibet. All the members showed keen interest and asked questions. It was a meaningful meeting.

Further, in the afternoon, Speaker Penpa Tsering was invited to brief the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade on the situation inside Tibet. The Joint Standing Committee chaired by Ms Teresa Gambaro MP. This briefing was very timely for the Committee to hear from the Tibetan side as the Committee was recently briefed by "Tibet experts" from China. These meetings were jointly organised by the Tibet Information Office and the Australia Tibet Council.
