Dharamshala — Chinese government recently issued a white paper on Tibet. Dr Arya Tsewang Gyalpo, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Japan and East Asia said, "China has issued many white papers on Tibet. This shows how insecure China feels about Tibet that they have to issue white papers on Tibet from time to time. The contents of the white papers are all lies and distortion of reality. If China is serious about their claims that they have developed Tibet and the region is a socialist paradise, then they should allow the UN rapporteurs, diplomats, and media to visit Tibet to confirm the Chinese claims."

Communist Party of China (CPC) issued a white paper on Tibet entitled "CPC Policies on the Governance of Xizang in the New Era: Approach and Achievements" on November 10, 2023. Which attempt to show good side of Tibetans living inside of Tibet and hide the reality and true side of Tibetans, who are living in the open-air prison, Chinese government impose oppressive policies on Tibetans: preventing them to have faith in their spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, currently in exile, prohibiting them from learning their mother tongue, Tibetan, separating children from their parents and placing them in the Chinese colonial boarding schools, practising economic and professional discrimination, torturing and killing Tibetans, imprisoning them merely for exercising human rights such as freedom of expression, freedom of religion and so on.

Tibet Post International (TPI) contacted Dr Arya Tsewang Gyalpo, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Japan and East Asia for his view on the Chinese latest white paper on Tibet and he said that, Chinese government issued many white papers on Tibet and this shows how insecure Chinese government feels about Tibet.

When TPI asked his comments on the China's latest White Paper on Tibet? Dr Tsewang Gyalpo replied, “China is the country known for issuing the largest number of white papers. It has issued many white papers on Tibet too.

When TPI asked his opinion on China's official use of the word of "Xizang" instead of Tibet, Representative Gyalpo replied, " This is China`s deadly and insidious plan to wipe out the name Tibet from the world map. Xizang is the CCP`s name for western and central Tibet, it does not represent Tibet as a whole. Real historical and political Tibet is composed of U-tsang, Amdo, and Kham, the three traditional provinces of Tibet. International community should strongly object to this Chinese plan to remove the name Tibet."

In the response to the question, China renewed its position on the reincarnation of His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama and other high Lamas, including Panchen Lama, he said, "This is a gross interference in Tibetan religious matters. The CCP regime does not believe in religion, and they have no idea of life after death. So it is preposterous that the CCP claims authority over the selection of high Tibetan Lamas, including H.H. the Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama. This is a violation of the Chinese constitution`s article no. 36, where freedom of religion has been guaranteed."

When asked about Chinese government's try to crush Tibetans' faith for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibetans in exile, he said, "China invaded Tibet in 1950 and its more than 70 years, but China has not been able to acquire justification to occupy Tibet. This is because of the strong Tibetan cultural and religious identity, and the resilient power. Tibet is still an international issue. The CCP regime is desperate to break this Tibetan unity to occupy Tibet physically and mentally. The CCP regime has been using various means to force and pressure Tibetans to denounce H.H. the Dalai Lama. In doing so, they are only making Tibetans more resolute to resist and overthrow the CCP regime."

The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) rejects the White paper as "unacceptable" and calls the paper full of "Misinterpretation, misconceptions and lies". Tenzin Lekshay, Spokesperson of CTA said on Tibet TV on November 10, 2023, 'it was unacceptable for China to use Xizang instead of Tibet. Xizang only refers to the so-called Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR), not the whole of Tibet. The White Paper is not intended for the people, it is intended for the security of the State (China), it only serves to satisfy China's political aspirations'.

"Whatever Chinese government put in the white papers, they are good in numbers, but only they lead is, how much it helped and how much Tibetan people benefited from these material developments. So far, for us being the voice of the voiceless Tibetans inside Tibet, these (material developments) are needed, but these things are not the primary thing, which we are looking for, Tibetan people need freedom to exercise and preserve the language, culture, identity. Material developments are only structures, not the essence of the culture, we have see many cases of fatality, suppressions, torture, throughout time, therefore, China has to be truthful in what it has to say, it cannot just tell lies all the time," the Spoken of CTA said.
